The Mendel Fellowships are designed to help researchers from all over the world do research in areas of special interest to the Mendels.

About Mendel Fellowships
The Mendel Fellowships were established in 1998 by Johanna Lenz Mendel’s estate as a legacy to promote research by researchers from all over the world in topics of particular interest to the Mendels, such as the history of the Spanish Colonial Empire, Latin American freedom movements, and so on.

- Two letters of recommendation, and an indication of the length of stay, which may include the summer months. The fellowship is intended to cover travel to the Lilly Library and living expenses while in residence.
